Vendor Table at the Chaves

November 11th, 2011

Reminder – there is a vendor table at the Chaves every year that sells t-shirts, bags, etc. This year we have experienced an unprecedented response to the fantastic new T-shirt design created by Jay Amarillo. You can buy these at the dojo – they are $15.00 each and the proceeds from all gear help keeps your dues at the same rate since 2005!  We also have white Tohoku T-shirts, designed by Kevin McNavich that are also available at the dojo. Support your Team!

SATURDAY, November 12, 2011:  Final toning and weight-loss conditioning workout and WEIGH-INS at Tohoku between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM
SUNDAY: The Chaves at St. John’s -- this is one of the many reason you can be PROUD of your CLUB!
Please let Sensei Harold know if you are available for any tasks at the Chaves.

Is there a lot of running in boot camp?

The majority of running that we do in boot camp is in short bursts to raise our heart rates, challenge our cardiovascular system and keep us warm. Distance running is not a part of the program unless specified in the specific program description. Please speak to your Coach about making exercise modifications if anything is not feeling right or if your have any restrictions regarding what you physically cannot do. Making modifications is strongly encouraged and is a big part of what Tohoku bootcamp is all about.

What kinds of exercises can I expect to engage in?

Every day of boot camp is different than the last! We prescribe to the training principle of muscle confusion. By challenging ourselves in different ways and at different intensities, we keep our bodies and our minds guessing which keeps the work out fresh and effective. The program is made up of body weight resistance exercises such as squats, lunges, and push-ups just to name a few! We also use simple tools such as resistance bands, jump ropes, Obi and agility ladders. One of the important things we hope you take away from your Tohoku Bootcamp experience is that you can get in a great workout using minimal equipment. Most boot camp exercises can be done anywhere, any time, without the expense of fancy equipment and even with limited space. Add in friends, and exercise can take on an element of “fun” that you may have never thought possible!
